SYNOPSIS
Premiered as part of the UK City of Culture 2013, The Conquest of Happiness is a breathtaking night of theatre, directed by Haris Pasovic and Prime Cut's Emma Jordan which has been performed for audiences in Derry~Londonderry, Mostar, Sarajevo, Ljublijana and Novi-Sad.
An avant garde, daring and unexpected theatre, dance and live music show inspired by the writing of world-renowned pacifist Bertrand Russell, The Conquest of Happiness featured a dynamic combination of first hand accounts and dramatizations of some of the most horrific acts of war of the 20th and 21st centuries. The show explored humanity's capacity for endurance, love and generosity in even the most desperate circumstances. Featuring a people's choir of adults and children from Belfast and an international cast of actors, dancers and musicians.
The Conquest of Happiness is unique cultural collaboration between three theatre companies - Prime Cut Productions Northern Ireland, East West Centar Bosnia-Herzegovina and Mladinsko Theatre, Slovenia.
