Our Artistic Development Programme invests in the development of independent Artists at all stages of their career.
The programme facilitates paid Internships for emerging Theatre Professionals, provides a platform for New Writing as well as devised and experimental work, programmes Development Workshops and Laboratories and has commissioned new work by several Northern Irish Playwrights.

Theatre Making in VR 2 day workshop
Join James Riordan (Brú Theatre) and Séan Burns (4e) for a two day deep dive into theater making in VR. We will be exploring Immersive film in 180 and 360, along with looking at Augment Reality, digital spaces and word building tools. The workshop will be practical, with participants creating their own immersive short films to be viewed in VR headsets during the workshop.
Brú Theatre’s VR piece Ar Ais Arís has been touring nationally and internationally since 2021, and director James Riordan is artist in residence at the Centre for Creative Technologies in University of Galway. Sean Burns, who has just returned from a digital artist residency in Paris, has vast experience in utilising technology to enhance the creative workflow. Using AR and VR as a tool for immersive engagement, Seán has produced experiences for Fintan O’Toole (Ulysses 2.2), Arts Council Ireland, Cavan County Council and University of Galway.

Whilst the main thrust of Prime Cut’s artistic mission is to produce International playwrights we have collaborated with and commissioned some great new work from some of Northern Ireland’s best: Clare Dwyer Hogg, Stacey Gregg, Owen McCafferty, Damian Gorman, Declan Feenan. Prime Cut are currently working closely with a number of Northern Irish Playwrights and Theatre Makers to develop new work.
